KiwiGrip Buying Guide: Coverage, Colors and Rollers

Choosing KiwiGrip starts with three shopping decisions: how much coating your project needs, which color to order, and whether the package includes the application roller you want. Keep those choices separate so that similarly named packages are easy to compare.

Measure the areas you intend to coat

Measure each deck area separately, then add the areas together. Exclude the spaces you are leaving uncoated. For an irregular deck, a sketch divided into smaller rectangles is a useful planning tool. Keep the measurements with your shopping list so you can revise the total if your project changes.

PYI lists approximate coverage of 20 square feet per litre, or 80 square feet for four litres. Coverage varies with application thickness and the desired texture. These figures are a starting estimate rather than a guarantee for a particular deck.

Package Total coating Approximate manufacturer coverage
One 1-litre pouch 1 litre 20 square feet
Four 1-litre pouches 4 litres 80 square feet

Read the package quantity carefully

A listing described as “4 - 1 Liter Pouches” contains four pouches totalling four litres. It is different from a single one-litre pouch. Use the package size and part number together when comparing prices or preparing an order.

For example, the white KG-1WP-R package is one litre, while the white KG-4WP-R package contains four one-litre pouches. Both listings specify a 4-inch roller. Current availability is shown on each product page.

Choose a color and roller

The catalog includes white, grey, cream, blue and black KiwiGrip pouch options. Compare the exact color name and product number before ordering additional material for the same project. Screen images are useful for browsing but are not a reliable physical color sample.

Separate 4-inch and 9-inch roller brushes are also listed. Check the included components before buying another roller, and consider the width of the deck areas you plan to work on.

Plan the project before checkout

  • Record the measured area and estimated coating quantity.
  • Check that every selected pouch is the intended color and package size.
  • Review the roller supplied with the package and any additional roller you need.
  • Read the manufacturer's preparation, application and curing instructions for the surface and conditions of your project.

Use the PYI application and coverage guide and PYI package reference to check the manufacturer's information. Browse non-skid deck coatings or contact us with the package number if you need help comparing the listed options.
